This Sunday, Sunday 11th November is the First World War Centenary Remembrance Day; Remembering the end of World War one (sometimes called ‘the War to end all wars’).
As with the rest of the nation Chrysalis have chosen to mark this event to honor all those who gave their lives.
Our members have made over 400 poppies in their art groups to help with our display, as well as the traditional red poppies that mark those who lost their lives in the war, they also included the colours’ of black to remember those of African and Caribbean origin who contribution to the war effort, white to commemorate and recognise the need for peace and purple for the animals who were also victims of War .
Our ‘Cascade of poppies’ is on display in the Chrysalis Wholefood Shop window in Wigton, items were donated to make the poppies and a special thank-you to Moira Edwards and Chelsea Bell for installing the work so beautifully.
The whole of Wigton has made a wonderful effort to mark this momentous occasion, so why not take sometime out this weekend and have a stroll around the town to view all the tributes made to remember all those who gave so much!
